Today ..What'sThis ..the one minute to read blog brings you two books by DL Atha. OK, you Vamp lovers take a bite of this.... What's the Title? I've written two novels. The first was Blood Reaction A Vampire Novel, released in 2011. For the Sake of Revenge was released in 2013. I'm currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. What's the genre? Both are supernatural thrillers What's the setting? Blood Reaction is set in modern day remote Arkansas. The story has a very secluded feel which matches the landscape. I wrote it that way with the hopes that the reader would feel the desolation of the main character. For the Sake of Revenge is a story within a story. The original action takes place in the Alaskan frontier in 1808 with ties to current day Sitka, Alaska. Name the three leading characters: Blood Reaction's three main characters are Annalice, a young physician and mother, who must survive a supernatural home invasion in order to protect her daughter. Asa is a malevolent vampire who finds her alone and takes the opportunity to terrorize her while threatening her family. He is blood thirsty and broken. Detective Michael Rumsfield is investigating a murder in the neighborhood. He knows Annalice is in danger and although he wants to protect her, he can't quite shake the feeling that she is involved in the bizarre murder of her neighbor. The three main characters in For the Sake of Revenge are Tamara, Adrik, and Peter. Tamara, the main character, is a complicated and highly flawed individual. She's been betrayed in the worst of ways and wants somebody to pay. Adrik, a long tortured soul, turned vampire for the single purpose of extracting revenge. Now he's willing to help Tamara at a pretty high cost. Peter is the exact opposite of them both. He's good, kind, and desperately in love with Tamara. Describe Blood Reaction in a few sentences? Blood Reaction is a story of motherly love and what one woman is willing to do to protect her only child during a supernatural home invasion by a centuries old vampire. The story is both sensual and dangerous and offers a look into the not so pretty side of vampirism. Describe For the Sake of Revenge in a few sentences? For the Sake of Revenge is a story of revenge and betrayal that spans two centuries. It explores the Russian lore surrounding vampires and it's ties to the Russian Orthodox church. The main characters are highly flawed but I found myself rooting for them anyway. I love to write and my happiest moments are when a reader sends me feedback about the books that I've written. I enjoy hearing about their connections to the characters, what they liked and even what they didn't like. Writing is always a work in progress that you can never master fully. I love bringing out the extremes of emotions in my readers whether it be love or hate, terror or humor. My characters are rarely completely loveable or easy to hate. They often mirror what I see in my clinical practice as an internal medicine/acute care hospital physician. When at all possible, I try to incorporate medical history and facts into the story line. I'm currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. DL Atha, having the good fortune to have been raised in rural western Arkansas, resides there still with her husband and three children where together they enjoy the farm life. She earned her MD in 1999, and currently enjoys the practice of hospital medicine and wound care which she performs full time in a nearby town. She is currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. For the Sake of Revenge was her first venture into non-medical fiction. A few of her favorite things are chocolate, anything old but especially old houses, gardening, and horses. Her least favorite things are getting up early, anything that happens before nine a.m. and constricting clothing. What's This welcomes Natalie Star and she has brought her book with her: The Keeper What's the genre? Young adult/paranormal romance/urban fantasy. What's the setting? The mountains in the state of Virginia. What are the names of your leading characters? Billie (female MC), Tyler/Ty (male MC), Ramey (male MC), and Adrik (antagonist). What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Billie is a vain young lady in the beginning of the story, but she has a loving heart and grows into a wonderful young woman as she matures and learns more about her destiny. Tyler is not the typical student in the school they attend, for more than his appearance. He is smart and caring and really good for Billie as she transitions into her role. Ramey is aloof until he needs to be otherwise, and even then he doesn’t come around completely. He has his reasons. Adrik is evil sent from the Dark. He is also very persuasive - as good looking men can be. His name means “dark” in Russian. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? As bookbub.com summarized it the best, I’ll use what they have: A recurring nightmare, an old necklace, a strange boy: Billie’s 16th year is anything but normal. In this edgy thriller, she must accept her destiny or face untold loss and danger. So tell us where we can buy your book. You can buy The Keeper just about anywhere eBooks are sold and through my publisher, Decadent Publishing, but there is a .99 cent sale right now at Amazon (good until 6/15). http://www.amazon.com/The-Keeper-ebook/dp/B006TKEX30 Thanks, Natalie, for sharing this with us.
