It’s surrounded by forests. What are the names of your leading characters? Lady Eloise Rowe and Benjamin Spratt What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Heiress Eloise Rowe is out of her depth in the wilderness, but she never backs down from a challenge and relishes in her new found freedom. A solitary man, Benjamin Spratt hides his kind heart beneath a gruff exterior. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Armed with a sketch of fur trader Benjamin Spratt, Lady Eloise Rowe marched through the gates of Fort Michilimackinac in the remote Quebec Province determined to find her missing botanist father. Surprised when Benjamin recites Latin love poetry just as easily as he tracks wolverines, Eloise must now convince the fur trader to look beyond her titled upbringing if she is to save her father from an Indian chief who believes her father’s sketches heal the sick. Ben owed Lord Stephen Rowe his life and planned to return the favor, but Eloise made the task more difficult. Intelligent with a fiery temper that matched her red hair, Eloise would tempt a saint to sin. More sinner than saint, Ben vows to protect Eloise even if it means protecting her from himself. The story of Eloise and Benjamin developed during my ten year anniversary trip to Mackinac City. No longer Quebec Province but northern Michigan, the reconstructed Fort Michilimackinac’s actors brought history to life and sparked my imagination which led to Lady Eloise and the Fur Trader. I am currently in the process of writing a novel involving Benjamin’s sister and am excited to still be uncovering more interesting facts about my home state.
