Ellie Grant came for a visit. So, I had to ask her. ' What's This?' What’s the title? ‘Palm Trees in the Pyrenees’ What’s the genre? I write crime stories. What’s the setting? This particular book, like the rest of the ‘Death in the Pyrenees’ series, is set in a small French town in the Eastern Pyrenees. What are the names of your leading characters? My main character is Danielle. Her best friend, Patricia also features heavily in the books. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters? Danielle is a downtrodden, thirty-something policewoman. Her character progresses and grows throughout the book and indeed her life story progresses throughout the whole series. Patricia is her best friend and she is a lesbian who’s had a difficult past. What can you tell us about the story in three to five sentences? The book opens with the death of a much hated local businessman. Was it accident, suicide or murder and who was involved? The story is mainly about the ex-pat community and prejudice. It gives a real feel of life in the small town and the wider community. The answers remain a mystery to the very last page. This is what she added about herself. Hi, my name is Elly Grant and I like to kill people. I use a variety of methods. Some I drop from a great height, others I drown, but I’ve nothing against suffocation, poisoning or simply battering a person to death. As long as it grabs my reader’s attention, I’m satisfied. Lisa's opinion.. better stay on her good side.
