What'sThis goes to the wilds of the 1700's Canada. Do take a minute to drop in and see what the fuss is all about. What's the title? Lady Eloise and the Fur Trader What's the genre? Historical Romance What's the setting? 1775: Fort Michilimackinac, Quebec Province Fort Michilimackinac is a British trading post and military installment on the straits connecting Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. It’s surrounded by forests. What are the names of your leading characters? Lady Eloise Rowe and Benjamin Spratt What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Heiress Eloise Rowe is out of her depth in the wilderness, but she never backs down from a challenge and relishes in her new found freedom. A solitary man, Benjamin Spratt hides his kind heart beneath a gruff exterior. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Armed with a sketch of fur trader Benjamin Spratt, Lady Eloise Rowe marched through the gates of Fort Michilimackinac in the remote Quebec Province determined to find her missing botanist father. Surprised when Benjamin recites Latin love poetry just as easily as he tracks wolverines, Eloise must now convince the fur trader to look beyond her titled upbringing if she is to save her father from an Indian chief who believes her father’s sketches heal the sick. Ben owed Lord Stephen Rowe his life and planned to return the favor, but Eloise made the task more difficult. Intelligent with a fiery temper that matched her red hair, Eloise would tempt a saint to sin. More sinner than saint, Ben vows to protect Eloise even if it means protecting her from himself. The story of Eloise and Benjamin developed during my ten year anniversary trip to Mackinac City. No longer Quebec Province but northern Michigan, the reconstructed Fort Michilimackinac’s actors brought history to life and sparked my imagination which led to Lady Eloise and the Fur Trader. I am currently in the process of writing a novel involving Benjamin’s sister and am excited to still be uncovering more interesting facts about my home state. Today ..What'sThis ..the one minute to read blog brings you two books by DL Atha. OK, you Vamp lovers take a bite of this.... What's the Title? I've written two novels. The first was Blood Reaction A Vampire Novel, released in 2011. For the Sake of Revenge was released in 2013. I'm currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. What's the genre? Both are supernatural thrillers What's the setting? Blood Reaction is set in modern day remote Arkansas. The story has a very secluded feel which matches the landscape. I wrote it that way with the hopes that the reader would feel the desolation of the main character. For the Sake of Revenge is a story within a story. The original action takes place in the Alaskan frontier in 1808 with ties to current day Sitka, Alaska. Name the three leading characters: Blood Reaction's three main characters are Annalice, a young physician and mother, who must survive a supernatural home invasion in order to protect her daughter. Asa is a malevolent vampire who finds her alone and takes the opportunity to terrorize her while threatening her family. He is blood thirsty and broken. Detective Michael Rumsfield is investigating a murder in the neighborhood. He knows Annalice is in danger and although he wants to protect her, he can't quite shake the feeling that she is involved in the bizarre murder of her neighbor. The three main characters in For the Sake of Revenge are Tamara, Adrik, and Peter. Tamara, the main character, is a complicated and highly flawed individual. She's been betrayed in the worst of ways and wants somebody to pay. Adrik, a long tortured soul, turned vampire for the single purpose of extracting revenge. Now he's willing to help Tamara at a pretty high cost. Peter is the exact opposite of them both. He's good, kind, and desperately in love with Tamara. Describe Blood Reaction in a few sentences? Blood Reaction is a story of motherly love and what one woman is willing to do to protect her only child during a supernatural home invasion by a centuries old vampire. The story is both sensual and dangerous and offers a look into the not so pretty side of vampirism. Describe For the Sake of Revenge in a few sentences? For the Sake of Revenge is a story of revenge and betrayal that spans two centuries. It explores the Russian lore surrounding vampires and it's ties to the Russian Orthodox church. The main characters are highly flawed but I found myself rooting for them anyway. I love to write and my happiest moments are when a reader sends me feedback about the books that I've written. I enjoy hearing about their connections to the characters, what they liked and even what they didn't like. Writing is always a work in progress that you can never master fully. I love bringing out the extremes of emotions in my readers whether it be love or hate, terror or humor. My characters are rarely completely loveable or easy to hate. They often mirror what I see in my clinical practice as an internal medicine/acute care hospital physician. When at all possible, I try to incorporate medical history and facts into the story line. I'm currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. DL Atha, having the good fortune to have been raised in rural western Arkansas, resides there still with her husband and three children where together they enjoy the farm life. She earned her MD in 1999, and currently enjoys the practice of hospital medicine and wound care which she performs full time in a nearby town. She is currently working on the sequel to Blood Reaction. For the Sake of Revenge was her first venture into non-medical fiction. A few of her favorite things are chocolate, anything old but especially old houses, gardening, and horses. Her least favorite things are getting up early, anything that happens before nine a.m. and constricting clothing. Ahmed is the powerful chief of a large nomadic tribe and a law unto himself. He is a man accustomed to taking what he wants... and he wants Diana. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? One of the biggest changes to my story from E.M. Hull's original is that while Diana knows she has no choice but to submit to the sheik, she does so very much on her terms. Their battle of wills is smoldering and the sexual chemistry between Ahmed and Diana is explosive and intense. Diana and Ahmed are both willful, stubborn and complex characters who somehow complete one another. So tells us where can we buy your book(s). What's This has Tamsin Flowers is on the site today to tell us something about her new short story collection. What's the Title? Zombie Erotoclypse What's the genre? Well, the clue's pretty much in the name - it's a collection of zombie erotica! What's the setting? All five stories are set during the zombie apocalypse. What are the names of the leading characters? With five separate stories to choose from, there are a lot of characters, so to make this a little easier, I've picked one of the stories to answer questions about—The Joy of Zombie Sex. The two lead characters in this tale are both zombies, Alice and Berthold. Share three things about each of these characters. At the beginning of the story Alice doesn't even realize she's been transformed into a zombie—she wakes up with a splitting headache and drives to the mall to see her optician. Once Berthold discovers her there, he breaks the bad news and, as you can imagine she has a hard time believing it. Later, when she's accepted she's a zombie, what's great about Alice is that she doesn't lose her humanity—she's keen to help other new zombies learn about, among other things, the joy of zombie sex! Berthold, on the other hand, is an older, more experienced zombie. He makes it his mission to search out newly transformed zombies and help them come to terms with what's happened. And best of all, for a zombie, Berthold is totally hot! What can you tell us about the story in three to five sentences? I can do better than tell you—here's a short excerpt! The street was dark and quiet now. Berthold’s mouth broke from mine and as he stood up, he pulled me to my feet. “I’m taking you home,” he said. His voice was a low rasp. He lifted me into his arms as easily as if I had been a child and with my head pressed against his chest I could the roar of his heartbeat. He covered the ground back to the apartment in long easy strides. The moment the door had closed behind us his hands were on me, tearing at my clothes as he pushed me up hard against the wall. Within seconds my T-shirt lay shredded on the floor and my jeans followed, ripped down while still done up. He kissed my mouth insistently and then burned a trail of kisses down my throat. In the words of one reviewer, 'Ms Flowers has a way of describing sexual tension that forces itself upon your own body.' Her stories have appeared in a wide variety of anthologies and she is now graduating to novellas with the intention to pen her magnum opus in the very near future. In the meantime, like most erotica writers, she finds herself working on at least ten stories at once: while she figures out whose leg belongs in which story, you can find out more about her at Tamsin's Superotica or Tamsin Flowers. Blake and Siobhan What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Blake is an Elder vampire, which means he was born one, not turned, he’s over four hundred years old and has the most beautiful piercing green eyes. Siobhan is human and only eighteen when this great love starts. She learns that love comes in many different forms, but true love once found is hard to let go of. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Innocence Lost is basically a love story, the corny saying “love can conquer all.” You are taken on a journey with twists in it. There are characters to fall in love with, to hate, and everything in between. Vampires that have fangs, and do bite, but not necessarily on the neck... Some people like them, some don't, and some just eat them up. Helen's bio: I grew up in my family's home in the County of Hampshire, England. My childhood dreams were filled with the desire to become a dancer. An only child, but I was never alone, my years were spent entertained with my vivid imagination. I met and married my husband not long after leaving school and soon after our son was born. My family is made complete with my two cats that are spoiled rotten, which results in them often thinking they rule the home. My life consisted of home life and a few jobs in the retail industry and my vivid imagination refused to stay quiet. So combined with my love of erotica and all things vampire I decided to try my hand at writing and has never looked back. Thank you, Helen Johnston for letting us get to know you. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Billie is a vain young lady in the beginning of the story, but she has a loving heart and grows into a wonderful young woman as she matures and learns more about her destiny. Tyler is not the typical student in the school they attend, for more than his appearance. He is smart and caring and really good for Billie as she transitions into her role. Ramey is aloof until he needs to be otherwise, and even then he doesn’t come around completely. He has his reasons. Adrik is evil sent from the Dark. He is also very persuasive - as good looking men can be. His name means “dark” in Russian. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? There's also Prophet and Viktor, but it's up to you to decide what their roles are. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters you named? James is the character that is most like me. He is what I would consider an ideal big brother. He has an adventurous spirit. Charlotte starts out very shy and unsure of herself, but quickly learns that she has the power to control her fear. She is a mother figure to James and Susan. She enjoys reading books. Susan is the youngest character in my book, but she is perhaps the smartest. We learn toward the end of the book that she has a very big purpose. Clovensport is the family pet. A quiet, boring old dog--or is he? Apollo is the first creature the children meet in Everafter. He is mighty and wise. He saves the children's lives on more than one occasion. Dehmar is a short, hairy creature known as a domovol. At first he seems grumpy, but he quickly warms up to the lively spirit that the children share. He is very wise, and cares very much for his family. Jessica is and shall remain a mysterious character. Perhaps we'll discover her real purpose in book two? What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? It is an epic adventure that is sure to keep you guessing from beginning to end. Do stop by ... What's This ...brings you a mixture of characters in Philip Whiteland's latest book. Get your spoon ready and dig right in. What's the title? Jambalaya What's the genre? The genre is Humorous Fiction. What's the setting? It is set in the Deep South of somewhere, where is up to you, but it does seem to bear a passing likeness to the U.S.A. What are the names of your leading characters? Judge Garden His daughter: Celany The maid servant: Ulolulo What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Judge Garden The Head of the Garden household. Actually, he comprises precisely one-third of the Garden household, along with his daughter Celany and their maidservant, Ulolulo and with two strong women like that about, even he isn't sure who's in charge. Thankfully now retired from the Bench, Judge Garden had very clear ideas about the notion of justice. Not for him any of this namby-pamby nonsense about people being innocent until proven guilty. In his view, everyone is guilty of something, it's just a matter of finding out what. He takes the concept of 'original sin' very seriously. Miss Celany Garden Our heroine(ish). Daughter of Judge Garden and engaged to Captain Richard Verruca but pursued by the notorious Riverboat gambler (he kept losing them) Max Vobiscus. Chaos tends to surround Celany but she floats serenely through it all. Two attempts to kidnap her only result in the abduction of Ulolulo and a Major who thinks his name is Agnes. Only a Southern Belle could keep her composure amongst all of this Ulolulo Sodme The Maid of all Work at the Garden Household. Ulolulo is a resourceful lady with a mysterious past, a decidedly odd present and an uncertain future. One night, all of the lights in the house had gone out and there, at the front door, was Ulolulo, her once blonde hair, blackened and standing straight from her head, sparks flying from the fillings in her teeth. Now, she was a much valued member of the household staff. In fact, she was the only member of the household staff. Ulolulo had sensibly refused to sleep inside any building erected by the Judge and now lived happily but warily in a hole in the ground." What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? The story is basically Gone With The Wind meets Airplane, which should give you some idea of what to expect. If you like your humour a little on the silly side, and you're a fan of the great British tradition of word-play, stretching from 'The Goons' to 'The Two Ronnies', via the 'Carry On' series and Benny Hill for a healthy(?) dose of innuendo and double-entendre, then take a look. where can we buy your book(s). There wasn't a moment that I wasn't engaged with the characters or the plot. The build up of mystery and tension in this suspenseful romantic novel is superbly done. I found myself constantly holding my breath and nervously listening for creaks in the house. There were some beautifully crafted romantic moments that had me swooning for Dylan, and several moments when I shed a tear. Stunning! The novel flowed very well effectively creating a good balance of suspense, character interaction and the lovely romance. The ending. Oh my! Tiffany, what an ending you have created.
