What's the title? Tea with the Demon** **See footnote. What's the genre? Paranormal Erotica – it’s very explicit and steamy, all consensual but very graphic. You may need to take a cold shower, or be ready for action.... What's the setting? Tea with the Demon is set in a small, fictional, town in the heart of England (UK). Wingate is quiet and Dez thinks nothing ever happens. What's the names of your leading characters? Dez – Half demon and prone to boredom. It’s not his full name but everyone knows him as Dez. For now anyway. Angel – Actually, she’s Evangeline but everyone knows her as Angel. There’s also Edward the librarian – no, not that library, the secret library hidden underneath the town library – and Helen and Derek, and Jason.... mustn’t forget Jason. It’s all a bit complicated and spans several lifetimes. But Dez and Angel are the key players. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters? Dez and Angel aren’t fully human, and often not fully clothed either. There’s a reason Helen and Jason are drawn to Dez and Angel, and why Derek takes an instant suspicious dislike to Dez – but you’ll have to read the book to find out. Dez’s father was a minor demon, his mother a human sacrificial victim who survived. Angel’s not saying who her parents were but rumour has it that one was an angel. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? If you met Dez, you’d not remember him after a few moments. That’s part of his power. He’s walked the streets of Wingate for centuries but no-one knows him. Apart from Angel, and Edward. Meant to be feared and worshipped, Dez has been a naughty boy. Condemned to walk alone and unfulfilled for eternity, Dez is bored. Until he meets Helen Sharpe. Despite his best efforts Helen remembers him, and is unaffected by him. Let me introduce you to my debut full length novel, Tea with the Demon. There are secrets behind this book, the name and the story, a history that if I told you, I’d have to lock you up for a very long time. A word of warning though, do not buy this book unless you like your characters undressed and slicked with sweat; and the action graphic. You may need a cold shower in order to finish the book. Interesting miscellany.... Tea with the Demon is referenced as a fictional work in another author’s work. So is the, as yet unwritten, sequel: The Demon’s Tree. As a reciprocal gesture, a writer is referred to in Tea with the Demon – but the book mentioned is one they haven’t written – yet. I’ve been fascinated with the intellectual concept of reincarnation for years and wanted to explore the notion of instant attraction based on previous shared lives, and instant enmity. Why is it that we sometimes form an instant opinion of someone? Is it that we’ve known them before? Dez and Angel grew from that exploration process, and I’m very glad they did. Well, there you have it. A one minute synopsis, links to buy and a warning about Isobel's new book.
Enjoy! Until- next time, Lisa

LIsa added: Hey, surprise Kevin has excerpts here: http://www.kevinsaito.com/excerpts.html so check him out.... I meant his books!! Mr. David A. Todd brings his book to What's This ...the minute blog. What's the title? In Front of Fifty Thousand Screaming People What's the genre? Contemporary sports drama What's the setting? Mostly in Chicago, but also in other cities with major league baseball teams and in southwestern Kansas. The time is contemporary. What's the names of your leading characters? Ronny Thompson, pitcher for the Chicago Cubs Tony Mancini, Mafia Don in New York City Colt Washburn, Mafia Don in Chicago John Lind, sports reporter for the Chicago Tribune Sarah Jane Riley, Ronny’s girlfriend What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Ronny Thompson breaks into the Big Leagues with the Chicago Cubs. He’s a phenomenal pitcher, and he wins almost all the time. He leads the Cubs to heights they haven’t seen in years. But, he was raised on a farm in rural Kansas, and is not prepared for life in the big city, or for the estrangement he feels with his parents. Tony Mancini inherited leadership of his father’s Mafia Family, but he’s not cut out to be a Don. He dislikes killing, though will order a hit on occasion. He has no business sense, and his Family is slowly going downhill. People in his organization have noticed, though he hasn’t. Colt Washburn was a southside Chicago gang member who stepped up to big time organized crime. He is ambitious and astute, and usually makes moves that make business sense of his crime syndicate. He doesn’t mind killing at all, and in fact may use it a bit too often. Sarah Riley was raised on an Iowa farm, but moved to Chicago and fell in with the wrong people. She hides her criminal background and becomes Ronny’s girlfriend. She sees this farm boy as so much like the boys she detested at home, but compared to what she’s had the last few years he looks pretty good. John Lind is a sport reporter for the Chicago Tribune, but he would prefer to be an investigative reporter of crime stories. He sees Ronny Thompson as something other than a farm boy, and cultivates a relationship with him, but starts an investigation to see what he’s all about. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? The Chicago Cubs haven’t won a World Series in over a century, but this new pitcher, Ronny Thompson, has the ability and stamina to take them to the Series and win it. However two Mafia Dons have made a huge bet about the Cubs and the Yankees. DAVID A. TODD The New York Don isn’t about to lose, so he interferes in Thompson’s life, while the Chicago Don tries to counter the moves of his rival. Thompson is confused about it all, chalks it up to big city life, and relies on the strength of his relationship with his girlfriend to get through it. Meanwhile an aggressive sports reporter is watching Thompson—investigating him, actually—and waiting to catch him in the wrong place at the wrong time. It all culminates in the World Series, in Yankees Stadium, with the $80 million bet riding on whether Ronny can win just one more game. What's the setting? The story plays in a little medieaval like village at first, but quickly moves to our time. Yes, there is magic involved, which is not surprising with a young witch. It's a book for children of all ages, from around 8 years old and up. Charisma is the youngest daughter of a witch and a wizard. She likes to go play with her non-magical friends Quinsee and Barnaby. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Charisma is a young witch, always helpful but at times a bit too quick with her magic. Quinsee is Charisma's best friend, she trusts Charisma entirely and she is not easily scared. Barnaby, Quinsee's younger brother, is more reserved towards Charisma and her magic, but he changes as the book progresses. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? The book starts in the little village where Charisma lives. The story moves to an entirely different place because of some unintended magic that happens and goes wrong, and from where it is up to Charisma to bring everyone back home again. I hope that Charisma (who is the little sister of my other character, Hilda the Wicked Witch) will appeal to many people, especially children. I am a perpetually eighteen years old YA author who lives in the wild, wet, Welsh borderlands surrounded by ruined medieval castles and Celtic mythology where I look for UFO’s amongst the stars and imagine all the people I meet have dark secrets. When I’m not inventing radical problems for my unsuspecting heroes and plotting their escape, I am a serial collector of random badly paying jobs and have never found a use for my BSc in Psychology whatsoever. I love sci-fi action adventures, playing the piano, believe Romeo and Juliet should have talked more and consider sarcasm to be the highest form of wit. Thanks, Suzanna for sharing your book, Shockwave with my readers. Check this book out -- sounds like enough action that any age would enjoy it. Lisa |
