Tell us about your book, Brenda. What's the title? Home Wrecker What's the genre? Fiction What's the setting? This story is set in California all around the Los Angeles area and ends up in Orange County. What's the names of your leading characters? The main character is Brooklyn. I picked that name after I met a girl who had just had a baby that she named Brooklyn. Originally she was called Colette even though that name was a bit to formal. There is also Gerard who was the ex-husband. I got that name from an old boyfriend I used to date. The dominating character is the boyfriend Bo. Not sure where Bo came from but it fits. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters you named? Brooklyn was just trying to find her place in the world while dealing with difficult circumstances. She was the girl next door type until she was labeled a Home Wrecker. Gerard was very much a recluse. He loved dogs more than he loved people. When he was just eight years old his parents divorced which followed him around like a black cloud throughout his life. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? This story is an account of a California girl from childhood through mid life. Throughout her journey, Brooklyn learned a lot about herself and discovered the meaning of true love. However, that was also when everything erupted around her. Despite finally meeting her soul mate, she discovered that she would have to pay for her actions. Here is a comment from a reviewer: The one thing that inspired me the most was Brooklyn's FIRE, COURAGE, and HEART! Brooklyn believes in what she is fighting for and never gives up. "A Sister's Promise" What's the genre? women's fiction. What's the setting? It's set in the fictional small town of Foxworth, Indiana. What are the names of your leading characters? My leading characters are sisters, Kate and Joely. What things do you want to share about each of the characters named? Kate is a school counselor who loves kids but is afraid to have any of her own, partly because of genetics (her mother died young from an undiagnosed condition). Joely always wanted to have children, but is single and needs a medical treatment that will probably leave her infertile. She refuses unless Kate reconsiders her stance on motherhood. The problem is that Kate agreed to a childless marriage. A sister's promise, a wife's promise. . .Kate must break one. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Kate Hopper can list a million reasons why she doesn’t have kids. No, more like reasons why she shouldn’t have kids: genetics, a dysfunctional family, and ultimately, the fear that she wasn’t cut out to be June Cleaver or Carol Brady or Claire Huxtable. TV moms always made it. TV moms always make it look so easy, but Kate knows better. How's it end ? Oops don't answer that. How's is not a What's question I guess to learn more about the story and how it ends your readers need to buy the book. Trust me it' painless' If you would like to have a "What's This" for your very own book(s) email me. at l[email protected] Ring Fenced by Zach Abrams What's the genre? It doesn't neatly fit into a genre. Roughly it's a CRIME novel but it's really more a story about power, control and obsession showing how it's used and abused. What's the setting? The primary location is the greater London area with some of the peripheral plot taking place in Glasgow and California. What's the names of your leading characters? The central character is Benjamin Short who also uses the names Ben, Benjie Bennie and Jamie. Supporting characters are his wife Natasha, his mother Hanna Shroot and his business partner Marvin What's 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Benjamin (in his various roles) is rich, powerful, intelligent and self obsessed Natasha is a content wife and mother. Hanna is a typical elderly Jewish mother yearning for more contact with her son. Marvin is a technically brilliant IT specialist, he is kind and honest. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? My book tells the story of Benjanin Short in his various incarnations. Benjamin is a very complex character and compartmentalises his life to an extreme. His life is split into five different characters, each living under a variation of his name and the people in each of these lives have little or no knowledge of the others. The one common thread weaving each of his lives together is his obsession for music. How's it end ? Oops... don't answer that. How's is not a What's question.
