What's This...the one minute blog shares, Kimberley Reeves' Broken What's the genre? Romance What's the setting? Contemporary, Ranch in Montana What's the names of your leading characters? Jessie and Mitch What's 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Jessie longs for love, marriage, children, but remains in a dead end relationship because she can't find it in her heart to abandon the man who so desperately needs her to mend his broken spirit. After the death of his twin brother, Mitch feels disconnected from life and can't seem to pick up the pieces. If anyone can put him back together again, it's Jessie, but how can he offer her the love she deserves when their relationship is built on a foundation of deceptions? Jessie and Mitch are two lost souls who must learn to trust their hearts and each other before they can truly be free to love. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? When I’m broken and nothing seems to make any sense, I go back to the ranch, to my beautiful Jessie; Jess…fixes me, makes me whole again. Those were the words written in Adam's journal shortly before he died. Mitch can give her the memories she deserves, let her hear the words Adam should have spoken to her when he had the chance. It is a simple plan; give Jessie a lifetime of memories, mend his own broken heart, then leave and send word of Adam's death. Jessie is everything his brother said she was, everything Mitch could ever hope for in a woman. Now he must spend the rest of his life pretending to be Adam, or tell Jessie the truth and risk losing her forever. What's the title? Tea with the Demon** **See footnote. What's the genre? Paranormal Erotica – it’s very explicit and steamy, all consensual but very graphic. You may need to take a cold shower, or be ready for action.... What's the setting? Tea with the Demon is set in a small, fictional, town in the heart of England (UK). Wingate is quiet and Dez thinks nothing ever happens. What's the names of your leading characters? Dez – Half demon and prone to boredom. It’s not his full name but everyone knows him as Dez. For now anyway. Angel – Actually, she’s Evangeline but everyone knows her as Angel. There’s also Edward the librarian – no, not that library, the secret library hidden underneath the town library – and Helen and Derek, and Jason.... mustn’t forget Jason. It’s all a bit complicated and spans several lifetimes. But Dez and Angel are the key players. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters? Dez and Angel aren’t fully human, and often not fully clothed either. There’s a reason Helen and Jason are drawn to Dez and Angel, and why Derek takes an instant suspicious dislike to Dez – but you’ll have to read the book to find out. Dez’s father was a minor demon, his mother a human sacrificial victim who survived. Angel’s not saying who her parents were but rumour has it that one was an angel. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? If you met Dez, you’d not remember him after a few moments. That’s part of his power. He’s walked the streets of Wingate for centuries but no-one knows him. Apart from Angel, and Edward. Meant to be feared and worshipped, Dez has been a naughty boy. Condemned to walk alone and unfulfilled for eternity, Dez is bored. Until he meets Helen Sharpe. Despite his best efforts Helen remembers him, and is unaffected by him. Let me introduce you to my debut full length novel, Tea with the Demon. There are secrets behind this book, the name and the story, a history that if I told you, I’d have to lock you up for a very long time. A word of warning though, do not buy this book unless you like your characters undressed and slicked with sweat; and the action graphic. You may need a cold shower in order to finish the book. Interesting miscellany.... Tea with the Demon is referenced as a fictional work in another author’s work. So is the, as yet unwritten, sequel: The Demon’s Tree. As a reciprocal gesture, a writer is referred to in Tea with the Demon – but the book mentioned is one they haven’t written – yet. I’ve been fascinated with the intellectual concept of reincarnation for years and wanted to explore the notion of instant attraction based on previous shared lives, and instant enmity. Why is it that we sometimes form an instant opinion of someone? Is it that we’ve known them before? Dez and Angel grew from that exploration process, and I’m very glad they did. Well, there you have it. A one minute synopsis, links to buy and a warning about Isobel's new book.
Enjoy! Until- next time, Lisa Oh, horror of horrors fans. Today, Kevin M. Saito gives What's This the chills. What's the title? From the Edge of Darkness What's the genre? Horror What's the setting? From the Edge of Darkness is a compilation of 13 of my scariest stories to date. I have a few that take place in the woods, some in run-down, haunted houses, some in every day suburbia. What are the names of your leading characters? I have 13 different leading characters. All have something a little unique about them. What's 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? I think that most of my characters can be related to pretty easily. They're every day people just like you and I forced into exceptional circumstances. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Whether you love the darker side of humanity, supernatural thrillers or a good old fashioned creature feature, you will find something in this book to enjoy. It runs the gamut and has a little something for everybody. If you love the things that go bump in the night, you will love From the Edge of Darkness. This is my first real shot at getting my stuff "out there" and I truly hope that people will enjoy my work. It was so much fun putting this book together and I had some really top-notch people around me, helping me and encouraging me the whole way. I'm incredibly thankful for all of the support I've gotten. I'm hoping that this book will be the first step on a much longer path. So if you like the macabre, chills and scares, definitely give this book a shot! I think you're going to want to keep the lights on at night after you read it! :-) Thank you so much!!! LIsa added: Hey, surprise Kevin has excerpts here: http://www.kevinsaito.com/excerpts.html so check him out.... I meant his books!! Paul has delivered another book to enchant us with. What's the title? The title of the book is: "Charisma the young witch." What's the setting? The story plays in a little medieaval like village at first, but quickly moves to our time. Yes, there is magic involved, which is not surprising with a young witch. It's a book for children of all ages, from around 8 years old and up. Charisma is the youngest daughter of a witch and a wizard. She likes to go play with her non-magical friends Quinsee and Barnaby. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Charisma is a young witch, always helpful but at times a bit too quick with her magic. Quinsee is Charisma's best friend, she trusts Charisma entirely and she is not easily scared. Barnaby, Quinsee's younger brother, is more reserved towards Charisma and her magic, but he changes as the book progresses. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? The book starts in the little village where Charisma lives. The story moves to an entirely different place because of some unintended magic that happens and goes wrong, and from where it is up to Charisma to bring everyone back home again. I hope that Charisma (who is the little sister of my other character, Hilda the Wicked Witch) will appeal to many people, especially children. I think reading is an important skill that seems to lose terrain lately. It's good to know that e-readers and tablets are coming up so much and gain where paper books seem to lose. I am a perpetually eighteen years old YA author who lives in the wild, wet, Welsh borderlands surrounded by ruined medieval castles and Celtic mythology where I look for UFO’s amongst the stars and imagine all the people I meet have dark secrets. When I’m not inventing radical problems for my unsuspecting heroes and plotting their escape, I am a serial collector of random badly paying jobs and have never found a use for my BSc in Psychology whatsoever. I love sci-fi action adventures, playing the piano, believe Romeo and Juliet should have talked more and consider sarcasm to be the highest form of wit. Thanks, Suzanna for sharing your book, Shockwave with my readers. Check this book out -- sounds like enough action that any age would enjoy it. Lisa Ellie Grant came for a visit. So, I had to ask her. ' What's This?' What’s the title? ‘Palm Trees in the Pyrenees’ What’s the genre? I write crime stories. What’s the setting? This particular book, like the rest of the ‘Death in the Pyrenees’ series, is set in a small French town in the Eastern Pyrenees. What are the names of your leading characters? My main character is Danielle. Her best friend, Patricia also features heavily in the books. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters? Danielle is a downtrodden, thirty-something policewoman. Her character progresses and grows throughout the book and indeed her life story progresses throughout the whole series. Patricia is her best friend and she is a lesbian who’s had a difficult past. What can you tell us about the story in three to five sentences? The book opens with the death of a much hated local businessman. Was it accident, suicide or murder and who was involved? The story is mainly about the ex-pat community and prejudice. It gives a real feel of life in the small town and the wider community. The answers remain a mystery to the very last page. This is what she added about herself. Hi, my name is Elly Grant and I like to kill people. I use a variety of methods. Some I drop from a great height, others I drown, but I’ve nothing against suffocation, poisoning or simply battering a person to death. As long as it grabs my reader’s attention, I’m satisfied. The title of my book is, A Lost Kitten What's the genre? A Lost Kitten is a paranormal romance with some science fiction elements. What's the setting? The book takes place in our dimension, which was given the name Guildhall. It is set in the future and on a distant unknown planet named Surreal. What are the names of your leading characters? The names of my two leading characters are John McCall and Jasira Eversole. What are 3 things you want to share about each of the characters? John McCall is a half human, half feline warrior. He is tricked into going to a distant planet named Surreal, which turns out to be a ghost planet. While he waits to return to his empire, John discovers that his soul mate is a ghost. Jasira Eversole is that ghost. She tries to earn John’s love and devotion without scaring him off the planet. It’s difficult for her when John can’t see, hear, or touch her. But being John’s soul mate, Jasira can touch John. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? A Lost Kitten has enough science fiction and paranormal elements to please readers of both genres. Known as the warrior with a heart, John will touch your heart and make you believe that love can over come barriers. So tell us where can we buy your book(s). "A Sister's Promise" What's the genre? women's fiction. What's the setting? It's set in the fictional small town of Foxworth, Indiana. What are the names of your leading characters? My leading characters are sisters, Kate and Joely. What things do you want to share about each of the characters named? Kate is a school counselor who loves kids but is afraid to have any of her own, partly because of genetics (her mother died young from an undiagnosed condition). Joely always wanted to have children, but is single and needs a medical treatment that will probably leave her infertile. She refuses unless Kate reconsiders her stance on motherhood. The problem is that Kate agreed to a childless marriage. A sister's promise, a wife's promise. . .Kate must break one. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Kate Hopper can list a million reasons why she doesn’t have kids. No, more like reasons why she shouldn’t have kids: genetics, a dysfunctional family, and ultimately, the fear that she wasn’t cut out to be June Cleaver or Carol Brady or Claire Huxtable. TV moms always made it. TV moms always make it look so easy, but Kate knows better. How's it end ? Oops don't answer that. It doesn't neatly fit into a genre. Roughly it's a CRIME novel but it's really more a story about power, control and obsession showing how it's used and abused. What's the setting? The primary location is the greater London area with some of the peripheral plot taking place in Glasgow and California. What's the names of your leading characters? The central character is Benjamin Short who also uses the names Ben, Benjie Bennie and Jamie. Supporting characters are his wife Natasha, his mother Hanna Shroot and his business partner Marvin What's 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Benjamin (in his various roles) is rich, powerful, intelligent and self obsessed Natasha is a content wife and mother. Hanna is a typical elderly Jewish mother yearning for more contact with her son. Marvin is a technically brilliant IT specialist, he is kind and honest. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? My book tells the story of Benjanin Short in his various incarnations. Benjamin is a very complex character and compartmentalises his life to an extreme. His life is split into five different characters, each living under a variation of his name and the people in each of these lives have little or no knowledge of the others. The one common thread weaving each of his lives together is his obsession for music. How's it end ? Oops... don't answer that. How's is not a What's question. Its an erotic romance, with a twist of BDSM, a dash of true love, and it’s shaken and stirred into one smoking hot book. What's the setting? The setting is a horse ranch, where the hired men are about to learn they have some interesting job duties. What's the names of your leading characters?Lenore and Carlos…but there’s also a little bit of Santiago and James. Sound like fun? What's 3 things you want to share about each of the characters to named? Lenore married James when she turned 18. Some said she married for money, but things were a bit more complicated than that. She and James were married for 20 years. She's at a bad place in her life now, and doesn't know what to do. Life as she knows it is crumbling away, bit by bit. Carlos was hired to help James work the ranch, but he will learn soon enough that he’s expected to do more than just brush the horses. He is an illegal immigrant, and really wants to keep his job, but he also wants to keep his boss’ wife. He won’t be truly satisfied until he has finally mastered her. What can you tell us about the story in 3-5 sentences? Honestly- this book has a lot of sex. It might not all be your thing, but there’s a little something for everyone in Mastered by the Hired Man.
