Regency Romances are stories read for their fluff. To be enjoyed without causing the reader to mope over the tale for days. Their are to be read with the earnest desire to turn the page to see what awaits the reader. And, so I give you Heartless by Jaimey Grant. I am not sure what pulled at me to read this book, for years ago I grew bored with the format– duke/earl sees girl, gets girl, and the big lie destroys their happiness until the last chapter and everything is right in the world again. Ms. Grant gives us one better. You might be able to count on the happy-ever-after. However, that’s it. Heartless will make you want to turn those pages (or click the screen). You will meet the mean, Duke of Derringer. Duke Heartless himself (and fall in love). Our heroine Leandra make all women proud, as she takes her duke through the paces of life. Throw in the sub-plots, intrigue and the never ever ending relatives (oh come on, you have them, so I know you understand.) I don’t believe in spoilers so you’ll have to see for yourself. But, be warned DO NOT start to read Heartless at ten o’clock at night, unless you like to stay up and read all night. Thank you, Jaimey Grant for making regency romance fun to read again.
